Bala Cynwyd, PA, January 6, 2020 - Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY) announces the promotion of six leaders to Senior Vice President and two to Regional Vice President. Laura Boylan, Mark Konchan, Brent Kruse, Bill Misita, Mark Plousis, and Paul Siragusa were promoted to Senior Vice President. Joel Castillo and Greg Ferriero were promoted to Regional Vice President.
Laura Boylan was named Senior Vice President of Human Resources. Ms. Boylan has more than 20 years of experience in HR, the majority of which have been in the insurance industry. She joined PHLY in 2006 as an HR Business Partner and has since held various HR roles of increasing responsibility, including Vice President for the past five years. She is responsible for all aspects of HR, including the development of an integrated talent strategy to foster an engaged workforce aligned to PHLY's overall goal to be a "Best Place to Work." She has grown a robust HR team to ensure the creation and delivery of high-quality programs designed to support and advance PHLY's talent, including leadership and development programs, furthering a diverse and inclusive workplace, and a Women's Leadership Series. She graduated from Temple University with dual undergraduate degrees in human resources administration and risk management and insurance. She also holds the Professional in Human Resources certification in human resources management from Villanova University.
Mark Konchan was named Senior Vice President of Risk Management. Mr. Konchan has worked in the risk management industry for over 35 years. He joined PHLY in 2004 as Loss Control Manager and was later promoted to Assistant Vice President in 2007, Assistant Vice President & Director in 2008, and Vice President in 2009. He oversaw a large expansion of the Risk Management department during this time, including the launch of PHLYTRAC telematics, which is now in over 60,000 commercial automobile policyholder vehicles. He earned his undergraduate degree in safety science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his MBA from Penn State University. He also holds the CSP and ARM designations.
Brent Kruse was named Senior Vice President of Marketing for PHLY's new South Territory, which includes ten states from Pennsylvania to Florida. During his 27 years with PHLY, he has held multiple positions in marketing and management. He opened the PHLY Minneapolis, MN office in 1993 and moved to Chicago in 2006 when promoted to Regional Vice President. During his time as Regional Vice President for the North Central region, the division more than doubled in size by premium and number of employees. Mr. Kruse graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa with a double major in Business Management and Psychology. He also received his MBA in Business Marketing from St. Thomas University in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Bill Misita was named Senior Vice President of Marketing for PHLY's new Northeast Territory, which includes nine states from Pennsylvania to Maine. He joined PHLY in 1999 as a Production Underwriter and was tasked with opening a New York office that grew to be the largest field production office in the country. Mr. Misita has consistently been one of PHLY's top performers and has earned the distinction of being the top producer in the country five times. As Regional Vice President of the Metro Region for the last eight years, Mr. Misita helped successfully guide the region through various challenges and underwriting initiatives to remain PHLY's largest region. He holds a B.S. in Applied Math and Statistics and an M.S. in Business from Stony Brook University, as well as a CPCU designation.
Mark Plousis was named Senior Vice President of Underwriting. Mr. Plousis began his insurance career in claims 30 years ago before joining PHLY's Claims Department in 1990. During his time in Claims, he helped develop and set up the Special Investigative Unit for detecting fraudulent claims. In 2000, he transitioned to the Underwriting Department as Assistant Vice President and head of the Auto Underwriting Division. In 2009, he was promoted to Vice President and took on the additional responsibility as team lead for the Auto line of business including the Grundy collector vehicle program. Mr. Plousis earned his undergraduate degree in management from East Stroudsburg University. He has his INS certificate and is a CPCU candidate.
Paul Siragusa was named Senior Vice President of Underwriting. Mr. Siragusa joined PHLY in 2002 as an Underwriting Manager. In 2005, he shifted to developing and managing PHLY's pilot E&S Division before transitioning to his current role as Vice President of the Human Services Division. He also serves as Product Manager for the Non-profit Social Services product, Line of Business Manager for General Liability, and Collateral Manager for the Commercial Lines Division (CLD). Mr. Siragusa earned his bachelor's degree in finance from Lehigh University, and he holds several insurance designations including CPCU, ARM, ASLI, and AIDA.
Joel Castillo was named Regional Vice President of Marketing, responsible for six states in the PHLY's North Central Region. Over his 12 years with PHLY, he has been a consistent top sales producer and leader in the region, and held multiple management positions. As Vice President of Marketing for the North Central Region, Mr. Castillo and his team were responsible for the Illinois and Wisconsin territories and grew the Chicago book of business significantly. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Illinois Wesleyan University, an MBA from DePaul University, and a CIC designation.
Gregory Ferriero was named Regional Vice President of Marketing, responsible for seven states in PHLY's New England region. Mr. Ferriero joined PHLY in 2005 as a Marketing Representative, was promoted to Regional Manager in 2012, Assistant Vice President in 2014, and Vice President in 2016. Since he began his career at PHLY, total premium for the New England Region has more than doubled. Mr. Ferriero is also a five-time winner of PHLY's President's Club award that annually recognizes top performers. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Wheaton College with a minor in management, and he also holds a CIC designation.
