Mr. James J. (Jamie) Maguire, Jr. currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Philadelphia Insurance
Companies (PHLY). His 25-year career in insurance began as an underwriter of professional liability and he spent
several years working with competing other insurance companies. Mr. Maguire would later join his father, Founder
and Chairman Emeritus Jim Maguire, at PHLY in 1996 as a Vice President of Underwriting. He was named to the
Company's Board of Directors in 1999 and promoted to Executive Vice President & COO, before becoming President
& CEO three years later. As CEO of PHLY for the past decade, Maguire, along with his management team, grew the
company fivefold and saw its stock soar to new heights each year. In 2008, he successfully initiated, negotiated and
completed the merger with PHLY's current parent - the Tokio Marine Group. He was subsequently named President and
CEO of Tokio Marine's U.S. operations, TMNA, Inc..
Maguire's leadership has garnered the attention of his industry peers. Among his many accomplishments, he has been
named 'Best Value CEO' in 2007 by DeMarche Associates, awarded the 2008 Emerald Advisors’ Entrepreneurial
and Excellence Award and named as regional ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ by Ernst & Young in 2010. Mr. Maguire
obtained his B.S. in Finance from Saint Joseph's University and MBA from the University of Notre Dame. He currently
serves on the Boards of the Franklin Institute, American Red Cross SEPA Chapter, Breakthrough of Greater Philadelphia,
Saint Joseph's University and Saint Joseph's University Academy of Risk Management and Insurance. When not driving
financial results, he competes in endurance races and has completed 15 half and 8 full Ironman triathlons (including
the Hawaii Ironman Championships in '03 and '06), numerous marathons/half marathons and the 2011 Leadville
Trail 100 mountain bike race. He and his wife reside in Fort Washington, PA with their four daughters. |
