Philadelphia Insurance Companies sponsored the 2008 Parkway Run/Walk benefiting The Cancer Center at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the nation's premier pediatric oncology program. Despite the rain, more than 1,500 runners & walkers (including 50 PHLY employees and their family members) participated in the event. Following the 5k run, PHLY employees presented a $65,000 check to Dr. John Maris MD, Director of Hematology/Oncology at CHOP.
Commenting on PHLY's commitment to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, President & CEO James J. Maguire, Jr., said, "We continue to support the battle against childhood cancer and are proud to be a sponsor of the Parkway Run for the fifth consecutive year. As an industry leader, we feel a strong responsibility to give back to our community. I applaud our employees' efforts and commitment to CHOP demonstrated by their participation in the Parkway Run despite the inclement weather."
